Procedures - Restylane

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. Common areas to inject are laugh lines, lips for a natural fuller effect, vertical upper-lip lines, marionette lines, corners of the lips to reverse sagging, and deep frown lines.

There is virtually no down time with Restylane injections and one can resume work or normal activities immediately. The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous.

Restylane has been used safely by dermatologic surgeons worldwide since 1996. Restylane is made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar found in the skin. As it is a natural substance found in the human body, there is virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction and therefore no pre-testing is required. The advantage it has over collagen injections it that it may last twice as long (six to nine months).

The most commonly reported side effects are temporary redness and swelling at injection sites, which typically resolves in two to three days. It is best to avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high-dose vitamin supplements prior to treatment because these may increase bruising.
