Kybella Injections in New York

Kybella Treatments Near Me: New York

If diet and exercise are not helping you achieve the results you desire around your chin and neck area, and if fat deposits around your double chin are taking away from your appearance, we encourage you to explore Kybella.

Kybella is an injectable drug FDA-approved for the treatment of submental fullness or fat around the double chin and neck area. Kybella has been FDA-approved for more than a decade. Its active ingredient is a synthetic bile acid that breaks down the membranes of fat cells. This results in the body’s scavenging cells called macrophages sweeping the area to remove the dead cells and the fatty debris. Kybella is a highly effective treatment for any area with fatty deposits. Depending on the amount of fat in the area, more than one injection session may be required. Typically the average number of sessions are 2-3. The injection sessions are spaced 2 months apart.

KYBELLA LogoThe advantage to Kybella treatments is that they are non-invasive requiring only a short amount of time to administer (typically 10-15 minutes per session). Following the treatment, you should be able to return to normal activities immediately after the procedure. After as few as two sessions, you should notice a significant improvement in the amount of fat around your chin and neck area. Patients typically need no more than four sessions, with some requiring as little as one session.

The fat you can expect to lose will be gone permanently, leaving you with a natural-looking, more sculpted, and more youthful appearance. Another advantage to Kybella injections is that the skin overlying the fatty area will naturally retract back and tighten up through a process called fibrosis. This involves fibroblasts laying down collage in place of the fat to cause tightening of the skin.

Kybella Injections in NYC & Long Island

Dr. Rokhsar is among one of the first physicians in the New York area and the United States to offer the new revolutionary Kybella procedure. Our centers were a Kybella study site prior to the FDA approval of the drug.   Kybella’s FDA approval for neck fat and submental fullness happened after 10 years of research and development and rigorous FDA trials. Dr. Rokhsar is proud to have been one of the few centers selected for further clinical research for fine-tuning the procedure. Dr. Rokhsar was hand-selected by Kythera (the original developer of Kybella) to be one of the first physicians in New York to offer the Kybella procedure both as an injector and a clinical trial site in 2014. Recognized as a leader in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures and lasers, Dr. Rokhsar is proud to have been one of the first doctors in the New York and Long Island area, and the United States, to offer the Kybella injections procedure.

Kybella’s benefits

You may notice deposits of fat around your chin, neck, and submental area particularly when you speak or make certain facial expressions. These deposits may be prominent even if the rest of your facial features are balanced and in harmony.

Many New York Kybella patients find that chin fat resists diet and exercise and becomes more of a problem with age or weight fluctuations. Most previous remedies for this concern were surgical, usually requiring some downtime.

Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment to reduce submental fullness. The benefits of Kybella injections include the following:

  • An effective procedure that requires no downtime.
  • Tolerable, as injections are often combined with an anesthetic for your comfort.
  • Capable of providing permanent improvement.

Kybella works by destroying the unwanted fat cells so that they cannot store or accumulate fat in the future. In other words, you will not require retreatment once you have reached your aesthetic goals if you maintain the same weight.

New York Cosmetic Skin & Laser Surgery Center headed by Dr. Rokhsar offers Kybella to patients who have mild, moderate, or severe submental fullness, and who are looking for a way to achieve an improved chin profile as well as a tighter neck without liposuction surgery.  You may also opt to have liposuction surgery by Dr. Rokhsar if you want more immediate results.  Patients have to wait at least 2 months to see their results from the Kybella injections.

Kybella’s effectiveness

As a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained cosmetic and laser surgeon, Dr. Rokhsar closely follows developments in aesthetic treatment. He trains in the latest technology, prioritizes safety, and has invented several non-surgical procedures during his career.

We are proud to be one of the first practices to have offered Kybella to our New York patients and have over ten years of experience injecting kybella into fatty deposits.  Kybella injections are popular because:

  • It targets an important and common need. Many patients are dissatisfied with the appearance of fat around their chin. The only cosmetic option available before Kybella was liposuction surgery which requires a few days of downtime.
  • It is a game-changer. You may be familiar with Botox, the injectable that made it possible for patients to appear years younger without surgical intervention. Kybella is similar to Botox in that regard: It is a non-surgical revolution in how patients treat heaviness in the chin and the neck or fatty deposits anywhere on the body.
  • It is an FDA-approved solution. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved it as a treatment for submental fat. Patients in the FDA clinical trials reported a significant improvement in the amount of fat they saw under the chin as well as improved self-image following treatment.

Kybella for jowls

While Kybella is not specifically FDA-approved for treating the jowls, many dermatologists have reported success using the treatment for this purpose. Kybella can be an effective option for reducing the appearance of jowls caused by excess fat. The advantage of Kybella injections in the jowls is that it is non-surgical. Not only does it reduce the bulky appearance of jowls, but the underlying skin retracts back giving a tighter look.

During a consultation, Dr. Rokhsar will evaluate your individual concerns and recommend a personalized treatment plan that may include Kybella or other non-surgical treatments such as skin tightening with Ulthera or Themitight for a more comprehensive approach. The cost of Kybella treatments varies based on the amount of product needed and the number of sessions required.

Kybella for jawline

While Kybella is primarily used for treating excess fat under the chin, it can also be used to sculpt and define the jawline. By targeting the fat in the submental area, Kybella can improve the contour of the jawline and provide a more youthful appearance.

Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment for submental fullness. Dr. Cameron Rokhsar is one of the first doctors selected by Kythera, the maker of Kybella to offer this revolutionary procedure in Manhattan and Long Island and has been selected as a clinical trial site.

For patients in New York, it can target:

  • The double chin and fullness of the neck.
  • The heaviness of the lower face and neck is diet and exercise resistant.
  • Heaviness around the chin can develop as you age.
  • Jowls in the jawline.

Within a few non-invasive treatments, you can expect a major improvement in the way that you look and the way that you feel about your appearance.

Kybella for neck

Kybella is an excellent option for individuals who are not good candidates for surgical procedures like liposuction or a neck lift. It can provide significant improvements in the appearance of the neck, improving the profile and reducing the appearance of a double chin.

During the treatment, a series of injections are administered directly into the fatty tissue under the chin. Each session takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired results. The number of treatments needed varies depending on the amount of submental fat present and the patient’s desired outcome.

Kybella for stomach

While Kybella injections are not FDA-approved for use on the stomach, Dr. Rokhsar has used it for off-label purposes to target stubborn areas of fat in the abdomen with great results. Dr. Rokhsar also uses Kybella to treat liposuction deformities, or lumps and bumps left over after uneven liposuction.

Kybella works by destroying fat cells with the use of a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring enzyme in the body that helps to break down and absorb fat. When injected into the targeted area, Kybella causes the fat cells to rupture and die, eventually being processed and eliminated by the body’s natural metabolic processes.

Kybella injection for belly fat

Kybella injections can be used off-label for other areas of the body, including the stomach. Therefore, I cannot recommend Kybella as a treatment option for belly fat reduction.

There are also other non-invasive and minimally invasive options available for belly fat reduction, including CoolSculpting, and liposuction. Kybella is highly effective for the treatment of fat in the belly. Patients should however know that the cost of Kybella depends on the number of vials used. A large belly may require many vials of Kybella which may increase the ultimate cost.

Kybella recovery

There is no true “recovery” period from Kybella injections. You will be able to resume normal activities immediately. There may be some bruising or redness after the initial injections, but that should diminish within two to three days. Swelling and lumpiness can persist for a few weeks in some people. Numbness can also persist for a few weeks.

The results will generally manifest themselves over two to three weeks, with peak results showing about 2 months later. Most patients will notice a substantial loss of excess fat from around the jawline and neck. In most cases, the “double chin” will diminish and reveal a more slender, sleek jawline. Our patients have reported a significant increase in confidence and self-esteem after getting rid of persistent, difficult-to-treat fat.

Kybella swelling timeline

Most patients experience swelling for about one to two weeks after the Kybella treatment. The swelling is typically worse after the first treatment, and it can last up to four to six weeks in some individuals. Patients often report that the swelling peaks two to three days after the treatment and resolves within one month.

For most patients, the swelling from Kybella injections lessens after five to seven days. Additionally, the swelling that occurs after the injection becomes less severe after each subsequent treatment session, as there is less fat to be dissolved.

In rare cases, patients can experience swelling for longer than two weeks. It depends on the dosage that you receive, the amount of fat that you have, and your particular skin. Wearing compression at night around the neck may decrease the duration of swelling.

Kybella side effects

As with any injectable treatment, there is a slight possibility of side effects3. Patients can experience slight bruising, and redness at the injection site following your session. This irritation typically subsides quickly. Swelling can persist for one to two weeks, and sometimes longer, if you have a large amount of baseline fat. Lumpiness is also a possibility but usually resolves after a few weeks. Numbness is a common side effect but also resolves after a few weeks. Lastly, the area injected may feel hard. This also usually resolves after a few weeks. Massaging the area can help expedite most side effects to go away faster.

Kybella injection reviews for Dr. Rokhsar

Kybella vs CoolSculpting

Kybella involves a series of injections of a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile acid which aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. This treatment is generally recommended for those with a double chin. It is particularly for individuals with petite necks, for whom the CoolSculpting applicator may be too wide. The number of sessions needed for Kybella varies from person to person, but usually, one to three sessions are required.

On the other hand, CoolSculpting uses cooling technology to freeze and destroy fat cells in the target area. This treatment is generally recommended for those who wish to remove a larger area of submental fat or have bigger necks. The number of sessions needed for CoolSculpting is usually two to three. Each session lasts about 45 minutes per applicator, and if both sides of the jawline are treated in one session, treatment can last up to 1.5 hours. Overall Dr. Rokhsar prefers Kybella injection for the double chin area over CoolSculpting.

Kybella vs Liposuction

Liposuction remains the gold standard for the removal of fat on any body area including the neck and double chin. Liposuction is a one-session procedure and the entire neck area can be treated during the liposuction session. You can also remove a larger amount of fat in one session, producing more immediate and dramatic results. However, it is more invasive and requires a few days of recovery time.

Kybella on the other hand is a less invasive approach that involves injections and requires minimal downtime. While the results may take longer to appear, they are more gradual. However, Kybella may not be as effective for patients with large amounts of excess fat or fat that covers the entire neck or the jawline area.

LipoDissolve vs Kybella

LipoDissolve is a compounded product made up of Phosphatidylcholine and Deoxycholate Acid, whereas Kybella is an FDA-approved injection that contains deoxycholic acid.

LipoDissolve is not FDA-approved. Since it is a compounded product, its safety and efficacy have not been tested by the FDA. In addition, since it is not a regulated product, the sterility of the product can not be guaranteed. There are also no quality control measures on the product or compounding pharmacy that makes it. For all the above reasons Dr. Rokhsar does not recommend LipoDissolve. The number of treatments required for LipoDissolve varies based on the area being treated, but typically patients require multiple treatments to see significant results.

Kybella on the other hand is a safe FDA-approved product with consistent efficacy and quality control from batch to batch manufactured in a controlled manufacturing faculty The Quality and safety of the product is randomly checked by the FDA through unannounced spot checks. For all these reasons, Dr. Rokhsar prefers Kybella injections over Lipodissolve.

Aqualyx vs Kybella

Aqualyx is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction that is not FDA-approved in the US but is widely used in Europe. It contains deoxycholic acid as the active ingredient but also includes additional components that help to minimize swelling and bruising. Aqualyx is usually injected directly into the fatty tissue in the targeted area, and only one or two insertion points are required. It can be used to treat localized fat deposits in various parts of the body, such as the hips, thighs, and abdomen.

Both treatments are similar in that they use the same active ingredient, but Kybella is more extensively studied and is the only one that is FDA-approved in the US. Kybella is primarily used for reducing submental fat, while Aqualyx can be used to treat fat in other areas of the body.

If you have been looking for a way to improve the contour of your lower face and chin, we encourage you to explore Kybella in NYC with Dr. Rokhsar.

How does Kybella work?

Your body has natural ways of breaking down fat, and those mechanisms are generally activated when your body needs that fat for energy (for example, during vigorous exercise or when you might be fasting). Kybella is an artificial formulation of a natural molecule in the body which is chemically identical to what is already in your body, namely bile acids in your digestive tract. Once injected into the double chin, the molecule (deoxycholic acid) will disrupt the cell walls of the fat, essentially breaking the fat cells down (or “melting” them). The fat is absorbed back into your body, but broken down and moved away from your chin. Therefore, any submental fullness or double-chin fat will be gone.

To be most effective, the treatment needs to be administered by a highly trained and experienced cosmetic surgeon, such as Dr. Rokhsar. His office was a study center for Kybella injections.

When can I get Kybella?

If you are looking for Kybella injections in the New York area, Dr. Cameron Rokhsar is among the most experienced, as he was among the first to do the procedure and conducted the clinical trials for Kybella. We offer the procedure both in Manhattan and Long Island, NY cosmetic surgery clinics.

Contact Dr. Rokhsar to get started on your transformation right away. A more athletic jawline could be just a few injections away.

How much does Kybella cost?

The cost of Kybella treatment can vary depending on multiple factors such as the number of vials required, the size of the area being treated, the amount of fat in the area, as well as the number of sessions which may be required to achieve the desired outcome.

Most patients require multiple treatment sessions for optimal results, typically ranging from 1 to 4 sessions, depending on the severity of submental fullness. The number of treatment sessions required can also impact the total cost of treatment.

What is submental fullness?

Submental fullness is a medical term referring to stubborn fat or heaviness under the chin, which may range from mild to moderate to severe in the accumulated fat. A double chin can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, aging, and weight gain. A double chin may affect men and women of all ages.

Should I get the Kybella treatment?

Reports produced by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery6 in 2015 state that at least 67% of people are bothered by excessive fat beneath the chin. If you are irritated by a double chin and have the fullness that will not go away (despite diet and exercise), and you are not interested in liposuction, injections could help you achieve your cosmetic goals.

How many Kybella injections do I need?

Depending on your aesthetic goals, up to 5 Kybella treatments scheduled at least 2 months apart may be required. In reality, most patients need only 1 to 3 sessions of Kybella. Dr. Rokhsar can help you understand the method and number of treatment sessions best suited for your particular needs. By reducing your double chin you can create a more harmonious facial profile. The results of Kybella are permanent results without the downtime associated with under-chin liposuction.

Does Kybella hurt?

Kybella, if injected without prior numbing injections, burns, and stings. If done properly with numbing injections administered prior to Kybella, the injections are completely painless. Remember that numbing cream alone is not sufficient to take away the stinging from Kybella injections so you must get numbing shots first. The people who report that the pain is excruciating, are those who have not gotten numbing injections first. To minimize pain and discomfort during the treatment, Kybella must be administered with a numbing agent, such as lidocaine. Use of ice or a cold compress to reduce discomfort after the injection is also helpful.

How long does Kybella take to work?

Full effects of Kybella treatment typically take between four to six weeks to become apparent. This is because the body needs time to metabolize and eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Dr. Rokhsar would like to wait a full 8 weeks before your next visit. Patients may require multiple treatment sessions spaced at least two months apart to achieve their desired results.

How long does Kybella last?

The results of Kybella treatments are permanent since the fat cells are permanently destroyed. However, if a patient gains weight, new fat cells may develop in the treated area.

Can Kybella help with PAH side effects?

Dr. Rokhsar has treated a number of patients suffering from paradoxical adipose hyperplasia where their previous fat reduction treatment with CoolSculpting had the opposite effect and caused an increase in fatty tissue growth. Kybella injections can help reduce fatty tissue in the PAH-affected areas. It is also very effective in treating irregularities post-liposuction. Injecting Kybella in the affected area, or fatty pocket, will dissolve fat and deliver the desired results for the patient.

What is Kybella used for?

Kybella is a non-surgical injection technique used to reduce excess fat beneath the chin, also known as submental fat or double chin. It uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally produced by the body to aid in the breakdown of dietary fat.

Overall, Kybella is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. It is the only FDA-approved cosmetic injectable to permanently treat submental fat. Dr. Rokhsar has been hand-selected to be one of the first doctors in the United States to offer the Kybella procedure. He has been using Kybella with great success for more than ten years. Our center was also a clinical study site for this procedure. We are very excited about the benefits our patients can now experience with this great and effective procedure. Dr. Rokhsar has more experience in Kybella injections than any other physician. He is also an expert in the off-label use of Kybella to create Venus dimples, reduce bra fat, and reduce the size of lipomas (fatty tumors). Dr. Rokhsar has successfully used Kybella in under the chin, neck, jowls, abdomen, thighs, arms, and love handles. Dr. Rokhsar also uses Kybella routinely in the treatment of lipomas for patients who want to avoid surgery or excision. Dr. is also a fan of using Kybella in the jowls to permanently get rid of jowls.

If you have excess fat beneath your chin or anywhere on your body, Kybella may be a treatment option for you. However, it is important to consult with Dr. Rokhsar to determine if Kybella is the right choice for you and discuss all other options.

How long does Kybella swelling last?

Swelling is a common side effect of Kybella treatment, and its duration may vary from patient to patient. Swelling from Kybella injections can last from a few days up to four weeks. The peak of the swelling is typically around 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. Patients may also notice lumpiness and soreness in the area which resolves within 4-8 weeks after the procedure. Patients may also experience numbness in the treated areas which usually goes away within a few weeks to a few months.

Swelling after Kybella treatment is normal and expected, and it usually goes away on its own. However, if the swelling persists for an extended period, it could be a sign of infection, and patients are advised to contact their medical provider. Most patients require multiple treatment sessions to achieve their desired results, and the recommended time between treatments is 2 months.

How long does it take for Kybella to work?

It takes one to two weeks to a maximum of a month for recovery for things to return to normal. The swelling generally subsides within a few weeks. The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes per session. Each session may consist of several injection sites where Kybella is injected. Recovery time can range from 48 hours to two weeks, with visible swelling that can last up to two weeks. Dr. Rokhsar recommends waiting a full 8 weeks between each treatment as the treatment areas continue to improve. It takes two full months to see the final result from Kybella injections. Even small pockets of fat can require one or two vials of Kybella. Larger areas with more fat can require 3-6 vials. The effectiveness of Kybella may vary depending on the individual and the amount of Kybella injected.

How many vials of Kybella do I need?

The number of vials of Kybella needed varies depending on the individual case, amount of submental fat, and aesthetic goals. Generally, one vial of Kybella provides between 8-20 mg per treatment session, and most people will require multiple treatments to achieve desirable results. A typical neck area requires 2-3 vials of Kybella. Lipomas require one-half of a vial to 2 vials depending on the size of the lipoma.

The number of injections needed varies for each patient. Dr. Rokhsar can help design a personalized treatment plan based on the amount of submental fat under the chin, schedule, and desired results. In general, the jowl area requires one to three treatments of one vial, usually half a vial peer jowl. The double chin area requires two to three vials, requiring 2 or 3 separate treatments. Mild fat may require only one vial. The bra bulge area (bra fat)requires two to three treatments of two to three vials. The belly pooch area requires two to three treatments of two to four vials. Most patients will need two to three vials of Kybella per treatment depending on the size of the area being treated. Besides double chin, bra fat, knee fat, jowls, and lipomas, Dr. Rokhsar also commonly treats male breasts with Kybella to reduce the size if the patient does not wish to undergo liposuction for gynecomastia.
